Are You Organised For Christmas Or Does The Thought Fill You With Dread?

We are fast approaching Christmas and the end of 2019. This time of year can feel overwhelming and that there is never enough time in the day to get everything done. There is always so much going on from nativity plays, carol services, gifts to buy and wrap, food to prepare and not forgetting work as well.

 

Do you put a lot of pressure on yourself to get everything done?

Do you run yourself into the ground and end up exhausted when Christmas arrives?

Do you have a never ending to do list?

 

This year, I am doing an Action Advent Calendar. We put so much pressure on ourselves and using this can help to make things feel more manageable, while achieving everything you need to. No matter how big or small the tasks are for each day, by just having that one thing you want to achieve can break down what feels like the impossible into the possible.

 

If you would like to join me in a stressless Christmas, set aside half an hour to write down 24 things you need/want to get done before Christmas. These can be work or personal life related. If you haven’t started your Christmas shopping, you can add this in, or need to clean the house for Christmas (this could be broken up over a few days). If this feels too much to start with, try writing everything down you can think of that needs to be done. This will help clear your mind and organise your priorities. Using your list, start to break it down into Must Do, Nice To Do and Can Wait.

 

From your Must Do list put these onto days and into manageable tasks. If there is a day when you have a lot going on, put down something small for example wrap one present. It may be small, but it is something done to help prepare for Christmas day.

 

On Christmas day, you can look back at your calendar and look back at what you have achieved through the month and feel proud at what you have done rather than wanting to crash and burn.

 

Put the fun and excitement into Christmas and enjoy this time of year.
